Purified human complement component C8

Complement component C8 is unique to the terminal complement pathway. It is composed of three protein chains (a, 65 KD; ß, 65 KD;, Γ 22 KD) and is present in plasma at approximately 55 mg/L. Together with the other proteins of the terminal pathway, C8 forms the membrane attack complex or MAC.
